Moon Conjunct Chiron in Aries, From Wound to Action

The moon moves around our chart at rapid speed switching signs every 2.5 days. The moon is our body, our felt sense of being. The moon is like Spider man’s “spidey-sense,” carrying an intuitive bodily felt sense of what is real, what is happening, what is dangerous, what is safe. Right now, the moon is conjunct (next to) Chiron in the sky. When the moon conjoins Chiron it offers a unique opportunity to explore some of our deeper wounds. Chiron, an asteroid, is named after a Greek mythic figure, the healer who could not be healed—or “the wounded healer.” Wherever we have Chiron in our natal chart is where we have our deepest wound and also our ability to heal others—it is through our wounds and our attempts to heal ourselves that we form a desire to help others. Think about the girl who loses her mother to cancer at the age of 10 and becomes an oncologist, or the child of a holocaust survivor who becomes a therapist, dealing with others’ grief.

I’m digressing a bit. This may be the natural consequence of feeling in a deep, embodied way—feeling the never ending pain of Chiron, THAT is what moon conjunct Chiron brings. Deep embodied empathy for the suffering of others. The moon has been with Chiron all day today. This day of deep mourning for the lives of children lost to brutal senseless violence. If you have allowed yourself to feel at all today, you have likely felt sickened, distressed, unable to work. And that is ok. That is necessary. We all need to feel deeply into this wound, for feeling the truth of the violence and pain is the only way to mobilize ourselves to action. First, we mourn, then we act. And, the astrology of today shows we have that capacity to act. The Moon and Chiron are in the sign of Aries joined by Mars (the planet that rules Aries), Jupiter and Venus. Mars as the ruler of Aries when combined with Jupiter has great power and courage to act. But/and, as I said yesterday, the Mars/Jupiter conjunction is quite powerful. When combined with a Mercury Retrograde, we need to be especially careful to reflect before we act. We need to think strategically, allow ourselves time to ensure that we are acting out of our truth rather than impulse.

So, take a breath, feel all the feelings, check in with your family, friends/community. Think about what you can do to help stop the insanity that has befallen our nation. And remember, you don’t have to save the world, you just have to do what feels natural to you—take whatever step toward healing this wound that comes to mind. It may not work, it may be hard, it may be uncomfortable. And still, it will be perfect. Because you are perfect.
