Cathy’s 6-part Introduction to Astrology Course equips you with the fundamental skills to do a simple Birth Chart Reading. Each 90-minute class delves into a specific part of the birth chart: Planets, Signs, Houses, and Aspects.

These concepts are then interwoven throughout the course through Chart Practice, where we pull up the charts from volunteers in the class and learn astrology by working with participants’ charts.

Reviewing and repeating key concepts and practicing with participants’ charts helps you master the step-by-step process of a simple chart reading.

Join Cathy as she explores the deeper meaning of Mercury and Venus in your birth chart. We are all familiar with the basic meanings of Mercury and Venus in our chart.  Mercury/Hermes was the fleet-footed messenger of the gods who loved to play a trick or two and can represent how we communicate, our business acumen, or where we might play the trickster for our advantage. Venus is the goddess of love, beauty, relationality, women, and justice.

But did you know Mercury and Venus have widely different meanings in your chart depending on their connection with the Sun on the day you were born? Have you heard of Mercury Promethean and Mercury Epimetheian? Of Venus Lucifer and Venus Hesperus? 

Cathy will start by teaching the nuts and bolts of the astronomy of the Solar Phase cycles and then move on to the symbolic meaning of Mercury and Venus in their various stages of the synodic cycle. She will weave in images and stories from Greek mythology and the scholarly work of Demetra George, Dane Rudhyar, and others. She will finish the presentation by showing you how to apply the symbolic meaning to your birth chart. If you want to volunteer your chart as an example for the group, bring your birth data (date, time, and place).
