Mars Conjunct Neptune
“Where do I go? Follow the river Where do I go? Follow the gulls. Where is the something, where is the someone, that tells me why I live or die?”
- Hair, “Where do I go” Gerome Ragni / James Rado / Gault Mac Dermot
Tomorrow night Mars makes an exact conjunction to Neptune in the sign of Pisces. When the god of war and action meets the god of the watery depths we might feel an internal pressure to act upon our dreams.
Mars is the warrior within us, the big brooding part of ourselves that wants to conquer—wants to cut into the world, to take action, to move boldly, make its mark, and return from battle to wild applause. Neptune, in contrast, is the god of the vast powerful endless sea, the otherworldly planet of collective imagination and dreams. Being dreamy and imaginative, Neptune can seem to distort reality as we know it, and Neptune transits can cause us to feel ungrounded and confused.
With Mars conjoining Neptune you may feel a strong urge to take action, to do something, to bring something up from the depths of your being and offer it to the world. At the same time, you may feel the call to action and be utterly confused about what course to take, what you are being called to do, how you will take that step, when you will take that step, what it will look like. It may be as if you are in a ship lost at sea being hurled around by the wind and waves.
The best option in these moments is to let go into the unknown, let yourself feel the strength of your desire AND the confusion of not knowing. Sit with the tension between desire and dream, trusting that the seas will eventually calm, the clouds will part, and the next step will emerge out of the void.
