New Moon in Capricorn, What Will You Build?

On January 11 we have a New Moon in Capricorn, a sign that has to do with hard work, leadership, responsibility, and ambition. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign that loves to initiate projects and build things that will last.

If you are itching to start something new, now is the time! This New Moon has an energy that supports our hard work and commitment in a lovely way. Mars, the planet of our desire to make something happen is in Capricorn where he has extra power and authority to accomplish difficult tasks. What is more, Jupiter and Saturn are in a flowing energy to Mars, supporting him by offering optimism and perseverance as he strives to take action to create something new. The energy is "go for it!"

The New Moon is squaring the Nodes of the Moon. When planets square the Nodes we can face a choice in our lives, and since this New Moon is at the "south bending," that choice may involve us choosing to let go of something from the past that no longer suits us. It could be that as you let go of something outdated in your life, you find you have the energy you need to step more fully into your dream project.

The New Moon also in a nice flowing energy to Uranus, the planet of surprises, unexpected events, and a desire to break free, so that choice could also present itself in unexpected ways, or opportunities for exciting new projects may appear "out of the blue.”

An extra tidbit for folks who live in the United States; the United States’ Chiron is at 20 degrees Aries, exactly squaring the New Moon, and this lunation may exacerbate the political strife related to the prosecution of the former President. A square is a difficult, tense aspect. Chiron is a point in our chart that has to do with our deepest wounds.

The North Node of the moon will also be exactly conjunct (right on top of) Chiron in the U.S. Birth Chart. The North Node can have to do with karmic corrections and when it is with a planet or a point in the chart, can expand its energy.

On top of that, the U.S. is in the middle of its Chiron Return, this happens every 50 years when Chiron, by transit, returns to where it is in your birth chart. The U.S. Chiron Return extends from April 2023 to February 2025. The last Chiron return happened from June of 1972 to January of 1975, the period when President Nixon was forced to resign because of crimes he committed while in office.

The current prosecutions of the former President clearly fit the pattern of the U.S. Chiron Return. Given the New Moon's square to the U.S. Chiron and the North Node on the U.S. Chiron, we may find that the New Moon cycle triggers a new event or disclosure that intensifies the nation's wound.
