My Reading Style
While I suggest possible interpretations for your Birth Chart, I see astrology readings as participatory and educational. True liberation comes from knowing oneself deeply rather than relying on others’ understanding of who we are. My goal is to help you see yourself in your Birth Chart. Understanding your Birth Chart, Transit Charts (where the planets are at any given time), and other charts can provide you with information that brings you into a closer relationship with your inner knowing so that you can find the answers to the questions you are exploring at the time of the reading.
Some of what you learn in the reading may call you to step into life more fully, take a risk, and do something new. It’s much easier to take risks in life when we have a solid foundation beneath us. So my practice often also includes practical tips on how to develop a spiritual practice if you do not have one and mentoring if you have one and would like suggestions on how to deepen it.
I believe in the proverb, “Give someone a fish, and you feed them for a day. Teach them to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime." So, I offer introductory astrology courses where you can learn the basics of reading your birth chart and monthly community gatherings where we learn astrology in a more relaxed setting. You can find information about my classes here: Classes and Events.
In addition, my readings are recorded, allowing you to absorb what you’ve learned over time.
Hellenistic Astrology
I practice “Hellenistic Astrology” or “traditional astrology.” This is a complex, highly developed system of astrology based upon principles formulated in Ancient Greece between the first and seventh centuries CE. Much of the theory behind Hellenistic Astrology was lost to the world until the early 1990s when a group of astrologers formed Project Hindsight, and began translating ancient astrological texts. Relying on these translations, a core group of astrologers, including Demetra George, Robert Hand, Robert Schmidt, Chris Brennan and others fleshed out the ancient teachings for modern practice. In fact, today’s astrology “renaissance” can be directly traced to the group at Project Hindsight as my own teachers (Demetra George, Chani Nicholas, Austin Coppock, Acyuta Bhava-das, Chris Brennan, and others) share the wisdom they have learned from these ancient texts.
